The buy-back column is this site's own reference, not a dealer quote: we set it a fixed 100.0 EGP per gram below the recorded sell price on every karat, because we do not observe what individual shops bid. What a particular dealer pays you may be more or less.
The 22K row is derived: the recorded 24K gram multiplied by 22/24, with the same 100.0 EGP per-gram gap applied to its buy-back, because our series does not record 22K separately.

How Alexandria pricing actually behaves. The metal reference is national: the gram price quoted in Alexandria is the same one quoted in Cairo, because both are derived from the international ounce and the pound. What differs between shops — in either city — is workmanship and the dealer’s own margin, which are set per piece and per shop rather than per governorate. We publish one national reference and do not measure a separate Alexandria price; if a shop quotes you above it, the difference is in those two components, and it is worth asking which.

Al-Attarine has the deepest liquidity and tightest spreads. For upscale or branded pieces try the Smouha mall dealers or Sidi Gaber.
The spot price is unaffected, but the dealer spread on small pieces widens during June–September tourist season. Avoid buying small bars in that window.
