These are the figures this site recorded for 2026-09-10: each is the average of the prices we sampled across that day, stored as-is and never rewritten afterwards. They are reference metal prices — a shop adds workmanship and its own margin on top, and workmanship is not recovered when you sell.

The buy-back column is this site's own reference, not a dealer quote: we set it a fixed 100.0 EGP per gram below the recorded sell price on every karat, because we do not observe what individual shops bid. What a particular dealer pays you may be more or less.

The 22K row is derived: the recorded 24K gram multiplied by 22/24, with the same 100.0 EGP per-gram gap applied to its buy-back, because our series does not record 22K separately.

Each row below is the recorded reference metal value for that weight — what the gold alone is worth at the figures above, excluding workmanship and dealer margin. The buy-back column applies this site's own fixed reference gap rather than an observed dealer bid, and no dealer is bound to transact at either figure.

What each weight of 24K gold is worth at the figures recorded for 2026-09-10, rounded to the nearest pound.

The gold ounce is the global reference unit. One troy ounce weighs 31.1034768 grams — heavier than the everyday ounce of 28.35 g, which is a common source of error. The live ounce price in USD comes from the international market; the EGP value is computed as ounce_usd × usd_egp.

The arithmetic runs in both directions. To go from an international ounce price to an Egyptian gram price: divide by 31.1035, then multiply by the USD/EGP rate. To go the other way, multiply the local gram price by 31.1035 and divide by the exchange rate. Running that check occasionally is the simplest way to confirm a local shop is quoting near the world price.

Purity is where the comparison usually goes wrong. International quotes refer to pure gold — 24K, at a 99.5%+ delivery standard. A 21K gram price is not comparable to an ounce quote until you divide it by 0.875, so comparing a 21K local price directly against XAU/USD makes Egyptian gold look about 12.5% cheaper than it actually is.

Two practical notes for Egyptian buyers. Ounce-denominated gold rarely changes hands here: the local market trades in grams, and the nearest common unit is the Egyptian Gold Pound at 8 g of 21K. And because the pound-to-dollar rate sits inside every conversion, a move in USD/EGP shifts the local ounce price even on a day when the international ounce has not moved at all.
