Our most recent recorded snapshot, for 2026-09-10, put the 21K gram — the karat most jewellery sold in Egypt is made in — at 6,306.9 EGP to buy and 6,206.9 EGP to sell back, and the 24K gram at 7,207.8 EGP. Everything a shop charges above those figures is workmanship and dealer margin.

These are the figures this site recorded for 2026-09-10: each is the average of the prices we sampled across that day, stored as-is and never rewritten afterwards. They are reference metal prices — a shop adds workmanship and its own margin on top, and workmanship is not recovered when you sell.
The buy-back column is this site's own reference, not a dealer quote: we set it a fixed 100.0 EGP per gram below the recorded sell price on every karat, because we do not observe what individual shops bid. What a particular dealer pays you may be more or less.
The 22K row is derived: the recorded 24K gram multiplied by 22/24, with the same 100.0 EGP per-gram gap applied to its buy-back, because our series does not record 22K separately.
The live price this page shows once JavaScript loads is a separate, current figure that refreshes about every five minutes. The tables above are a fixed daily record and do not change after the day is recorded.
Gold prices in Cairo are uniform with the rest of Egypt, and the 21K gram is shown live at the top of this page, drawn from the Cairo bullion market and the Egyptian market reference.
Main Cairo gold districts: • Khan El-Khalili — Al-Muski street and the Al-Sagha alley, Egypt's largest and oldest gold market and the wholesale anchor. • Downtown Sagha — Al-Ataba and Al-Muski area, widest selection of weighted pieces. • Heliopolis (Korba) — Baghdad Street corner, upscale jewelers, workmanship runs ~15–25% above Khan El-Khalili. • Nasr City — Makram Ebeid Street — modern dealers inside major malls, focused on Italian pieces and branded names. • Maadi — Road 9 — small cluster serving the embassy district, often invoiced in USD.
How prices actually behave in Cairo. Cairo is the pricing reference for the Egyptian Gold & Jewellery Division, and the city's wholesalers move the live price for the whole country. That means any move in USD or international spot reaches Cairo retail within minutes, and price differences between Cairo dealers come down to workmanship and dealer margin only — not the metal price. The dense liquidity makes Cairo the lowest-spread city for both buying and selling back, anywhere in Egypt.
Khan El-Khalili (Al-Muski / Al-Sagha alley) and downtown Sagha (Al-Ataba) are the historic core. Heliopolis (Korba), Nasr City (Makram Ebeid) and Maadi (Road 9) are the modern major clusters.
The metal price is the same — the difference is workmanship only. Khan El-Khalili workmanship runs roughly 15–25% below Heliopolis (Korba), but the latter offers upscale ambience and branded warranties.
Yes. The Gold Pound (8g of 21K) is bought back at any Cairo gold shop at the live 21K × 8 price minus a small spread (~2–3%), without losing the mint premium.
The reference price is uniform across Egypt because every dealer uses the same Egyptian market reference. Workmanship and dealer margins may vary slightly between shops.
